Evaluating Online Sources

With the vast amount of information available online, how do you what to trust? Use the SIFT Method to help you evaluate the quality and accuracy of information. The SIFT method is composed of four moves or things to do to quickly make a decision about whether or not a source is worthy of your attention. These fact-checking strategies ask you to do the following every time you encounter information:

  1. Stop
  2. Investigate the Source
  3. Find Better Coverage
  4. Trace claims, quotes and media to the original context

Navigate through the tabs in this box to learn about each step in the SIFT method.
